Tide Errors Gives One to Greene Co 8-7
By: Carey Meitzler
Coming off a solid defensive performance on Thursday, the Maroon Tide's gloves
look a little suspect as they gave up 7 unearned runs to Greene County and dropped
a 8-7 decision in the first game of a "Triangle Doubleheader" involving Greene County
and Biloxi at Picayune.
Greene County scored single unearned runs in first and second and scored two runs in
the third after the Maroon Tide dropped what would have been an inning ending double
play relay throw at first base. The fourth inning was no better as Greene County pushed
across three more runs onTide miscues.
Alex Riser (hand on plate) scored on a Heath Stevens double, but Britton Fortenberry was tagged out.
Picayune scored three runs in the fifth. Sean Garrard drew a bases loaded walk to force
in a run and Scott Parish followed single to left field that drove in two more runs to cut the
Wildcat lead to 7-6.
Greene County scored what proved to be the decisive run in the top of the seventh on a balk.
Picayune scored a run in the bottom of the seventh when Ronnie Pascal doubled home Garrard
who was hit by a pitch leading off the inning.
Picayune (12-5) would scheduled to play Biloxi later today after the Indians played Greene County.
