House throws no-hitter in 11-0 win over Bay High

Picayune left-hander T.J. House continued his sparkling year on the mound as he tossed a no-hitter in the Maroon

Tide's 11-0 win over Bay High that gave the Maroon Tide a sweep of the home and home series in Region 8-4A.

After House struck out the first three batters he faced in the top of the first, the Maroon Tide put up three runs in the

bottom of the inning.  With a runner at first with two outs, Jared Bales singled to the left center field gap to put Brandon

Jurich on third.  House then drove in the first run with a two-out single to left field that scored Brandon Jurich who had

reached on a fielder's choice.   Jacob Gandy singled to right field to score Eric Smith, the courtesy runner for Bales.

Bryce Ladner hit a ball into the hole at short that scored Reggie Bailey who was inserted as the courtesy runner

for House.

Picayune added four more runs in the second inning.  Jacob Riser walked, and after a fly out, Jurich walked.  House

singled to right to score Riser, and when the ball got pass the right fielder, Jurich scored all the way from first base

and House ended up on third base.  Bailey came on to run for House and scored on another single to right field

by Gandy to put Picayune up 6-0.

With the bases loaded in the bottom of third, Bales deposited the first pitch from Bay's Garrett Sotak over the left field

wall for his first home run of the year and the grand slam gave Picayune a 10-0 lead.

Brett Milner drove in the final run with a two-out single that scored Bryce Ladner in the bottom of the fourth inning.

House faced the minimum number of 15 batters in the five inning contest.  The lone Tiger runner was a two-out walk

to Justin Main in the second inning, but House picked Main off first base to end the inning.  House finished with

nine strikeouts and allowed only one ball out of the infield, a fly ball to right field in the fifth.

Picayune (14-4, 4-2) will host Harrison Central on Saturday in non-Region action before playing Region 8-4A leader

Long Beach on Tuesday (at Picayune) and Friday (at Long Beach) of next week in a key pair of games.
