D'Iberville sweeps Picayune in Region 8-4A finale

Picayune--D'Iberville avenged an earlier season sweep to Picayune by taking the girls' game 65-39 and the boys' game 54-44
at Kelly Wise Memorial Gymnasium.
D'Iberville 54 Maroon Tide 44
Despite a double-double by sophomore Derionne Stewart, the Maroon Tide was unable to overtake the Warriors falling 54-44.
After a brief 4-0 lead, Picayune fell behind 16-10 at the end of the first quarter. The Maroon Tide went scoreless in the second
period and trailed 22-10 at the break.

Picayune fell behind 34-16 with 2:59 left in the third, but finished the quarter with a flurry to make it 34-26 at the end of the
quarter. Behind Stewart's strong play inside and the outside shooting of Vince Gable, Picayune cut the score to 42-37 with
2:58 to play, but D'Iberville went on a 9-0 run to hold off the Maroon Tide (11-11,7-5).
Stewart had 14 points and 13 rebounds, 7 of those on the offensive board. Gable, who did not score in the first half, finished
with 13 points. Andrew Francios led the Warriors with 16 points.

Only the faithful turned out to support the teams at Kelly Wise Memorial Gymnasium.
D'Iberville 65 Lady Tide 39
The Lady Warriors jumped to a 25-7 lead after the first quarter and coasted to a 65-39 win over the Lady Tide (5-16, 3-7).
Karly Moran had 10 points and Janeae Wills added 9 for Picayune. Amber Rushing pumped in 19 points for
D'Iberville (13-7, 5-4).
