St Stanislaus tops Maroon Tide 69-27
by Carey Meitzler
Bay St Louis- The Picayune Maroon Tide encountered a tenacious defensive effort from home standing St Stanislaus and the
result was numerous turnovers and a bevy of transition baskets that enable the Rockachaws to post 69-27 Region 8-4A win.
Picayune won the opening tip and held the ball for over two minutes, but the Rockachaws made a defensive adjustment that netted a
steal by SSC's Pedro Maciel, who was fouled on the other end of the court and converted both free throws. From that point,
Stanislaus' defensive pressure produced numerous Maroon Tide miscues and an 8-0 lead. Chris Nixon got Picayune on the board
with 4:36 left in the quarter and then scored again as the buzzer sounded to end the quarter with the Rockachaws up 19-4. The lead
increased to 38-15 at the half and 53-23 after the third quarter.
