Picayune, Pearl River Central split games

Carriere--Picayune and Pearl River Central split their Region 8-4A at Carriere in two very entertaining games.
Pearl River Central 52 Lady Tide 49
The Lady Blue Devils got two scores late in the game from Kayla Drummond to get the win over Picayune's Lady Tide 52-49.
PRC jumped to a 7-0 lead on with the last points coming on Shanewka Fowler's three pointer with 6:45 left in the first quarter.
Picayune rallied to tie the game at 14-14 with 3:20 left on Monique Brown's bucket. Andrea Jackson hit a three ball and Janaea
Wills followed with a short jumper to give the Lady Tide a 19-14 lead with 2:20 left. Karly Moran scored with 1:40 left and
Hillary Dickens hit one of two free throws for a 22-14 lead after one quarter.

Picayune would build a 27-16 lead on two free throws by Moran with 6:58 left in the second period. Fowler hit a three pointer
and Drummond scored on two lay ups to bring PRC to within 27-23 at the half.
PRC took the lead at 29-28 on Drummond's score off an offensive rebound. Drummond score again on a lay up to make
it 31-28 with 3:45 left in the third quarter. Melody McGill scored a jumper, but Fowler hit another three pointer with 2:49
left to give PRC a 34-30 lead. Fowler then hit one of two free throws with :54 left. Brown scored for Picayune to make it
35-32 with :34 left. Chanese Jackson made one of two free throws to make it 36-32 at the end of the quarter.
The fourth quarter saw the game tied four times and three lead changes. Picayune took the lead 42-40 with 4:21 left on Brown's
short jumper in the land. Fowler tied it at 42-42 with two free throws with 4:12 left. Picayune then got a buckets from Brown
and Moran to lead 46-42 with 3:27 left. With 3:24 left, Natasha Holloway hit the first of two free throws, missed the second and
Drummond scored on the put back off the offensive rebound to make 46-45. Moran hit a jumper to give the Lady Tide a 48-45
advantage with 2:50 left. Fowler made one of two free throws and then Drummond scored with 1:11 to tie the game at 48-48.

:33 left in the game. Picayune's Wills hit one of two free throws for Picayune to make it 50-49 with :16 left, but Drummond
made one of two free throws with :14 and :03 left to give PRC the win.
Kayla Drummond paced PRC with 22 points and Fowler added 20.
Monique Brown led Picayune with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Moran finished with 9 points and Andrea Jackson had 8.

Maroon Tide 44 Pearl River Central 36
Picayune overcame a half time deficit to take a hard fought 44-36 win over the PRC Blue Devils.
PRC lead 8-2 on consecutive three pointers by Jabar Locure and Josh Nixon. Picayune got a
jumper from Vince Gable, a free throw by Lloyd Hall and then a put back by Hall with :59 left
to cut the lead to 9-6 at the end of the first quarter.
Jamal Hall scored on two lay ups to pull Picayune to within 11-10 with 6:09 left in the second
quarter. PRC led 16-13 at the half.

PRC built a 21-15 lead on Locure's score off an offensive rebound with 4:55 left in the third quarter.
After a Maroon Tide miss on the next possession, PRC had the ball headed up the court when they
were whistled for a technical foul. Vince Gable hit one of two free throws and Picayune got the ball
at half court. Over the next 8 minutes, Picayune outscored PRC 15-0 to take a 31-21 lead.
During the run, Courtney Nixon made the first of two free throws, got the rebound of his second miss
and scored while being fouled again. He converted the free throw to complete the the old fashioned
three point play and give the Maroon Tide a 22-21 lead with 2:17 left in the third quarter. Nixon
scored again with 1:59 left and then Lloyd Hall scored on an assist from Gable to make it 26-21 with
:55 left. Gable hit two free throws with :03 left to make it 28-21 after three quarters.

In the fourth quarter, Gable hit one of two free throws with 4:59 left and then had another assist to
Lloyd Hall with 4:25 left to make it 31-21. PRC ended the scoring drought on Trey Miller's three
pointer with 4:14 left. PRC cut it to 32-27 on Locure's basket and free throw with 2:17 left. Marvin
Richmond hit two free throws with 2:10 left for a 34-27 lead and then drew a charging foul on the other
end of the floor that gave the ball back to Picayune with 1:58 left. Gable made one of two free throws
with 1:48 to play and then scored on an assist from Lloyd Hall with 1:30 left to give Picayune a 37-27
lead. Down the stretch, Lloyd Hall hit four of four free throws and scored on an assist from Richmond
to help Picayune preserve the win.
Gable and Lloyd Hall each had 13 points for Picayune. Hall also grabbed 6 rebounds. Derionne Stewart
had 10 points and Jamal Hall added 7 points.
Locure led PRC with 17 points.
