Lady Tide 61 Long Beach 57
After being on the road for their first nine games, the Lady Tide took advantage of playing in
Kelly Wise Memorial Gymnasium by defeating Long Beach 61-57 for their first win of the
season. Despite missing 20 free throws, the Lady Tide prevailed to even their District record
at 1-1.
"It was nice to finally play at home. We had a balanced attack with three players in double digits.
We've been working on getting the ball in Monique's hands because even when she doesn't
score, it creates a lot of other situations. Overall, we have played much better this week, but
we still have to do a better job at the free throw line," said Head Coach Kristi Mitchell.
Monique Brown lead the scoring attack with 18, Andrea Jackson had 15 including 6/8 from the
free throw line in the fourth period and Karly Moran scored 12. Other scorers for Picayune were
Janaea Wills with 3 while Melody McGill, Sharonda Jackson and Hillary Dickens each had two
points.
Boys: Maroon Tide 43 Long Beach 41
The Maroon Tide won their fifth game in a row holding off Long Beach 43-41. The win
moves the Maroon Tide to 5-3 overall and more importantly 2-0 in District.
Picayune will be at home on Tuesday when Bay High comes calling at Kelly Wise.
