Picayune sweeps George County

Picayune- Picayune won both games against George County in the last two games of the Picayune Christmas Invitational

Tournament with a 55-42 win in the girls game and 65-36 in the boys game at Kelly Wise Memorial Gymnasium.

Maroon Tide 65  George Co. 36

Marcus Rawls, a 6-5 junior, had 12 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, and a blocked shot in lead the Maroon Tide past George Co.

Leading 22-15 with 2:54 left in the second quarter, Picayune went on a 9-0 run and George County never recovered as the

Maroon Tide pulled away. Derionne Stewart added 10 points while Scotty Merrill and Vince Gable added 9 and 8 points

respectively for Picayune (7-7).

Lady Tide 55  George Co. 42

The Lady Tide got balanced scoring with Andrea Jackson netting 13 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double performance.

Arianna McGill and Keanna Magee added 11 points each.  Picayune led 29-21 at the half and built twenty points leads on

two occassions before the Lady Rebels cut the lead to 49-40 with 1:52 left.  But, the Lady Tide got a short jumper and a free

throw from Tee Myers and Shoronda Jackson sank two free throws to put the game away for the Lady Tide (11-4). 

Shoronda Jackson also pulled down a team high 11 rebounds.
