Maroon Tide holds off Bay High 67-55

Picayune--Picayune jumped out to a big lead early, but had to hold off visiting Bay High for a 67-55 win at Kelly Wise

Memorial Gymnasium in Region 8-4A action.

The Maroon Tide (15-3, 3-1) looked impressive in the first quarter as they scorched the nets for a 20-4 lead. In the second quarter,

Picayune continued the onslaught building a 32-11 half time advantage led by Chris Dees' 15 points.

Picayune extended the margin to a 26 point lead after three quarters by a score of 57-31 before the Tigers went on a tear

as the Maroon Tide substituted freely down the stretch.

The Maroon Tide's Chris Dees turned in a double-double performance with 21 points and 10 rebounds.  Wayne Mickel

added 14 points, 12 coming in the second half.  Brandon Fortenberry added 10 points and handed out 4 assists.

Demitry Johson paced Bay High (3-15, 0-4) with 12 points.  Quincy Hall added 11 points and Chaquille Lewis had 10 points.

In girls action, the Bay High Lady Tigers defeated the Lady Tide (0-15) by a score of 75-24.

Picayune will host Pass Christian in a crucial 8-4A game on Friday.
