Maroon Tide rolls past Poplarville 82-48

Poplarville stings Lady Tide 58-32

The Maroon Tide started fast and rolled to a 82-48 win over the homestanding Poplarville Hornets. 

After Poplarville's Blake Dunston scored to Picayune's lead to 14-10 with 2:21 left in the first quarter, Maroon Tide head coach

Daniel Kennedy called time out. Picayune exited the strategy session and raced to a 11-1 run to lead 25-11.

In the second quarter, Picayune's pressure defense created numerous Hornet turnovers and Picayune turn them into baskets and

raced to a 51-21 half time lead and coasted the rest of the way.

Brandon Fortenberry had 21 points and dished out 5 assists.  Chris Dees had 15 points and David McClain added 9 for

Picayune (21-3, 11-0).

Dunston and Lavelle Henry each scored 14 points for Poplarville (3-17, 1-8).

Poplarville 58  Lady Tide 32

Picayune trailed 11-10 after the first quarter, but the Lady Hornets outscored the Lady Tide 18-3 in the second quarter and

cruised to a 58-32 win.

Karly Moran had 11 points to lead Picayune (11-11, 2-7) while Monique Brown had 7 points and Lauren Burks added 6 points.

Daiquiri Raine scored 20 points with 8 of them coming in the decisive second quarter.  Policia Travis had 16 points and Larke

Nightengale had 10 for the Lady Hornets (7-11, 2-4).

Ebony Jones (20) is fouled by Poplarville's Policia Travis (14) in the fourth quarter.
