Maroon Tide runs past PRC 65-38

Lady Tide falls to Blue Devils 55-51

The Maroon Tide got off to another great start and ran past Pearl River Central 65-38 at Carriere.

Reshun Smith started the scoring with an old fashioned three point play, Chris Dees had a two-handed dunk, and

then Smith, David McClain, Dees, and Brandon Fortenberry all hit three pointers to give the Maroon Tide a 17-6 lead

after one quarter.

Fortenberry opened the second quarter with another three ball and Picayune built a 38-16 lead and never looked back.

Josh Nixon had 14 points for Pearl River Central (3-15, 1-3).

Smith led the way with 14 points, McClain and Fortenberry had 13 points each with 3 three pointers each.

Ben Daly had 10 points, 7 rebounds, 3 steals, and two blocked shots for Picayune (17-3, 7-0). 

The Maroon Tide will host St Stanislaus on Tuesday.

 

PRC  55   Lady Tide 51

Brooke Eccles poured in 37 points and had 12 rebounds to lead PRC (4-13, 1-3) past the Lady Tide.

Picayune trailed 31-19 at the half, but rallied to within three points at the end of the third quarter.

As the fourth quarter opened, Karly Moran pulled Picayune to within one point at 40-39, but Eccles hit one of

her 5 three pointers to make it 43-39.  Moran then hit two free throws to make it 43-41 with just under five minutes

left in the game. Eccles responded scoring on a put back of a missed shot, a lay up, and two free throws to stretch

the lead to 49-41 with 4:50 left.

Picayune cut the lead to 51-48 with 1:02 left, but PRC's Kayla Drummond converted four consecutive free throws

on two trips to the foul line to make 55-48 with :32 left.   Ebony Jones' three pointer with :26 left cut it to 55-51,

which was the final points of the game.

Monique Brown and Jones each scored 19 points for Picayune while Moran added 11 points.

Picayune (11-8, 2-4) will play next Friday hosting Long Beach.
