Maroon Tide wins; Lady Tide loses at Ocean Springs

The Picayune Maroon Tide completed their regular season with 65-51 win against the homestanding Ocean Springs Greyhounds.
The win pushes the Maroon Tide to a 26-4 overall record.
Tied at 17-17 after one quarter, Picayune went on an 13-2 run. Vince Gable started the spurt with a three pointer, then
Fortenberry scored on putback, a reverse layup, and a short jumper off the glass while Dees scored on an assist from Reggie
Bailey. After a Greyhound layup by Blake McMillian, Dees scored again on an assist from Travis Aubin. Picayune lead 32-23
at the intermission.
Dees had 20 points and 11 rebounds while Fortenberry finished with 18 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals, and 4 assists.
Tre Brown had 16 points, Colin Goley had 12, and McMillian had 11 for the Greyhounds (12-15).
Ocean Springs 67 Lady Tide 61
Picayune's Andrea Jackson came off the bench to score 10 points for the Lady Tide in the second quarter in building a 33-26
halftime advantage, but Ocean Springs stormed back to claim a 67-61 win.
Jackson entered the game for Monique Brown who was saddled with 3 personal fouls early in the second quarter. Jackson
scored five putbacks and Ebony Jones added 10 points of her own including a long range three ball at the buzzer.
Ocean Springs rallied to take the lead 37-36 on April Carter's layup with 4:58 left in the third quarter. Picayune's Brown scored
on two short jumpers for a 40-37 lead and Jackson hit a 15 footer for a 42-37 lead with three minutes left. Carter put Ocean
Springs up for good on a layup with 1:07 on the clock.
The Lady Hounds scored the first seven points of the fourth quarter to build a 55-46 lead . Picayune got a free throw, a short
jumper, and a three pointer from Brown and a basket by Karly Moran to pull to within one point at 55-54 with 4:47 left in the
game. Carter scored on two layups and nailed a three pointer in the final 3 minutes to seal the win for Ocean Springs.
Jones led Picayune (11-14) with 14 points, Brown had 13, and Moran and Jackson each finished with 12 points. Autumn Jackson
scored 6 points and pulled down 14 rebounds.
Carter paced Ocean Springs (15-16) with 21 points.
