Picayune blasts past Stone County 73-43

Picayune--Brandon Fortenberry poured in 23 points including 13 in the first quarter that sparked Picayune to a 73-43
drubbing of Stone County in the first round of the South State Class 4A Boys tournament at Kelly Wise Memorial
Gymnasium.
Chris Dees scored seven of the first nine points before Fortenberry unleashed a pair of three pointers, a putback, an old
fashioned three point play, and another three pointer to pace the Maroon Tide to a 23-10 first quarter lead.
Picayune led 41-23 at the half and substitutely freely the entire second half.
Dees aided Fortenberry's output with 13 points, David McClain had 12 points, and Justin Smith had 11 points for Picayune (29-4).
Sammy Brown led Stone County (15-15) with 16 points.
Picayune will host the South State Tournament beginning on Thursday. The Maroon Tide will play at 8:30pm
against McComb.
