Picayune sweeps Pearl River Central

Picayune--Picayune's boys and girls each won District games over Pearl River Central at Kelly Wise Memorial

Gymnasium with the Lady Tide winning 54-40 and the Maroon Tide boys prevailing 65-57.

Girls:  Picayune 54   PRC  40

The Lady Tide lead just 15-13 at the half, but went on a 10-0 run in the third quarter to build a 38-24 lead entering

the fourth quarter, After scoring just one point in the first half, Picayune's Tee Myers scored 9 points, had 3 steals,

and grabbed 2 rebounds in the third quarter.  Myers finished with 16 points and 7 rebounds to pace the Lady Tide.

Ashley Bridges had 9 points while Jasmine Ducre and Clarissa Jones added 7 points each.  Sahara Wilson and

Teela Hayes finished with 6 points each.  Caroline Lumpkin had 16 points for PRC and Sabrina Miller added 10.

Picayune is now 16-4 overall and 1-1 in district.  PRC falls to 4-15 and 0-1 in district.

Boys:  Picayune 65   PRC 57

With the score tied at 22-22 at the half, the Maroon Tide poured in 22 points in the third quarter to build a 44-31

lead heading into the fourth quarter.  Picayune got a strong inside play from juniors Sullivan Bell and Eric Peyton

in the second half that allowed Picayune to build its lead.  PRC, behind Jordan Fairconetue chipped away at the

lead and pull to within 58-52 with 1:36 left.  But the Maroon Tide got clutch free throws from Justin Mark and

Peyton down the stretch to preserve the win.  Bell finished with 15 points and 9 rebounds while Peyton tallied

10 points and 6 rebounds.  Justin Mark had 12 points including two 3-pointers in the third quarter.  Shemar

Williams had 11 points and 6 rebounds.  Nolan Fletcher had 9 points, 6 rebounds, and three assists for

Picayune (18-2, 2-0).   Fairconetue led PRC (14-5, 0-1) with 21 points while Ashton Woodson added 14 points.
