Biloxi--Monique Brown poured in 29 points, but it wasn't enough as the Biloxi Lady Indians held off
Picayune 66-61 in the Biloxi Invitational.
The Lady Tide trailed by 9 at the half and cut the lead to just 4 points in the fourth quarter, but
Picayune never was able to take the lead against the Lady Indians.
Despite the loss, Coach Kristi Mitchell found some bright spots for her team.
"We were out rebounded us in the first half and we were lucky to be only down by nine at the half.
Obviously there's a lot of things we can improve on. Our goal is to play hard and get better each
day. Biloxi has a good team. They were fast and strong and I feel we learned more from losing to this
team by 5 points than if we would have beat a weaker team by twenty."
Janea Wills added 14 points, Karly Moran had 9 points, Andrea Jackson 5, Keona Magee,
and Hillary Dickens 2.
The Lady Tide was 21 of 26 from the free throw line. Brown and Wills were 8 of 10 and Moran
was 5 of 6.
Picayune (1-0) will continue play in the Biloxi Tournament on Tuesday with a 6:30pm game
against Ocean Springs.
