Tide & Tide get wins over Pass Christian Picayune used balanced scoring to push their record to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in division play with a 70-46 win over the Pass Christian Pirates at Picayune's Kelly Wise Memorial Gymnasium. Picayune led 19-8 after one quarter and led by 13 points at 23-10 in the second quarter before Pass Christian fought its way back into the game closing the gap to 30-26 on Mason Brown's 3 pointer at the buzzer. In the second half, Picayune came out and quickly dashed all hopes of a Pirate comeback win as they outscored Pass Christian 25-14 in the third stanza behind outstanding play by guards Chazz Hawkins, Randy Perkins, and Alan Moran. Hawkins had 8 points in the quarter including two three pointers, Perkins had 8 points, and Moran added 5 as the Tide built a commanding 55-40 lead. Darionne Jones had a monster two handed dunk that shook the rafters and brought the partisan Tide crowd to their feet late in the quarter. Jones added another dunk to start the fourth quarter and the Tide coasted the rest of the way, emptying the bench with three minutes to play. Alan Moran paced the Tide with 15 points including three 3 pointers. Randy Perkins and Chazz Hawkins each tallied 14 points and Chris Griffith added 12 points. Newcomer Chris Dees added 8 points off the bench. Darionne Jones added 5 points including the two dunks and pulled down 8 rebounds.
Lady Tide 59 Pass Christian 45 Picayune (8-1, 2-0) raced out to a 11-0 lead and fought off a second quarter Lady Pirate rally on its way to a 59-45 win. Mykeal Hall pumped in three 3 points that cut the Lady Tide lead to four points midway through the second quarter,but that's as close as Pass Christian would get. Dandy Dozen guard Dedrea Magee finished with 21 points, 15 in the first half. Breonne Spikes added 14 points and Jamelle Clark finished with 8 points. Clark held Pass Christian's Hillary Dedeaux to only 5 points on the night, well under the 25 points she scored against Picayune back on November 21st.
