St Stanislaus turns back Tide 52-41

Bay St Louis --The last time the Maroon Tide lost a game was back on December 8, 2006, at the hands of St. Stanislaus.
The Rockachaws were able to turn back Picayune for the second time this season with a 52-41 victory to snap the Maroon
Tide's 12 game winning streak at Brother Phillip Memorial gymnasium.
Picayune led 10-7 with :05 left in the first quarter, but Stanislaus got an easy layup that ignited a 14-0 run that allowed them to
build a 21-10 lead deep into the second quarter. With the Maroon Tide committing numerous turnovers and unable to score,
the Rockachaws surged ahead, led by Pedro Maciel who scored four points and dished out four assists during the stretch.
Picayune's Brandon Fortenberry broke the Maroon Tide drought on a lay up with 1:17 left to make the half time score 21-12.

Picayune cut into the Rockachaws' lead trimming the margin to 27-20 on Chris Dees' jumper with 3:39 left in the third quarter
and again on a Dees dunk with 2:37 left that made it 29-22. Wayne Mickel pulled Picayune to within 34-29 with :09 left, but
Maciel hit a long range three pointer at the buzzer to give the Rockachaws a 37-29 lead.

In the fourth quarter, Picayune rallied to cut the lead to five points on two Fortenberry free throws with 4:27 left in the game,
but the Maroon Tide could get no closer as St. Stanislaus' Thomas Camargo scored seven points in the quarter to keep the
Maroon Tide at bay.
Camargo paced St Stanislaus (19-3, 5-2) with 18 points, 15 coming in the second half. Maciel, who had set out the last
two Rockachaw games, both lossess to Pass Christian and Long Beach, with a sprained ankle, added 13 points, 5 assists,
and 5 steals.
Fortenberry led Picayune (19-3, 6-2) with 15 points and Chris Dees tallied 11 points.
Picayune will travel to Long Beach on Friday.
