Maroon Tide cages Lumberton Panthers 60-32

Lumberton--After losing their Region 8-4A opener the night before, the Picayune Maroon Tide took to the road up I-59 and

came away with a 60-32 win over the Lumberton Panthers.

After Lumberton's Rashod Henry scored the first basket of the game, Picayune went on a 15-0 run highlighted by a two-handed

dunk by Chris Dees on a pass from Wayne Mickel.  Picayune led 15-2 at the end of the quarter and continued to pour it on the

Panthers building a 33-11 halftime lead.

Ben Daly had 8 points and 4 rebounds in the third quarter to help the Maroon Tide build their lead to 54-28.

For the game, Brandon Fortenberry led all scorers with 16 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists.  Dees and Daly each finished with

12 points and Daly had 6 rebounds.

Picayune (8-2, 0-1) will travel to Pass Christian on Tuesday for a Region 8-4A encounter.

The Lady Tide was defeated 30-27 by the Lumberton.  Picayune got great efforts from Brittany Wintersteen, Autumn Jackson,

and Janea Wills.
