Picayune's basketball teams blasted Bay High on Tuesday night by large margins

at Kelly Wise gymnasium. The games were originally scheduled for Bay High, but

were moved to Picayune due to damages still present at the Tiger Dome.

Lady Tide 85  Bay High 46

Dedrea Magee set a career high by pumping in 40 points in leading the Lady

Tide (14-1, 4-0) to a 85-46 win.

Magee had 24 points in the first half with Picayune taking a 51-19 lead.  Picayune

led 69-34 after three quarters.

Jamelle Clark added 17 points and Breonne Spikes had 15 points for the Lady Tide.

Rounding out the scoring were Monique Brown with 8, Ebony Lewis with 3, and

Deawn Breland with 2.

Head coach Dennis Peterson said that Magee remembers losing many times to the

perennial power Bay High.

"She (Magee) remembers when she was a 9th grader and we got beat by about

the same margin and tonight she and her teammates knew that their time would

come and tonight they felt like they got a little revenge."

Juanita Easley led Bay High (2-11, 0-3) with 13 points.

The Lady Tide will try to avenge their only loss of the season as they will host

Columbia on Saturday.

Maroon Tide 88  Bay High 53

Picayune continued their winning ways as they have done all year with

consistency.  Once again the Maroon Tide had multiple players in double

figures running past Bay High by a score of 88-53.

The Maroon Tide jumped out to a 13-3 lead midway through the first

quarter, but Bay High fought back to cut it to 13-8 on a 3 point shot at

the buzzer from Brent Robinson.  Bay High would get as close as 15-12

before the Maroon Tide pulled away to lead 31-14 at the half.

Picayune (12-2, 4-0) scored 57 points in the second half to turn the game

into a rout.

Darionne Jones led the way with 17 points and 9 rebounds.  Alan Moran

and Clydell Jones finished with 11 points each.

Chris Griffith had 10 points and 7 rebounds.  Randy Perkins finished with

8 points, but more importantly ran the Picayune offense to near perfection.

Chris Dees added 7, Chazz Hawkins and David McLain had 6 each,

Brandon Fortenberry dropped in 5, Garrett Ball a 3 pointer, Ben Daly

and Wayne Mickel had 2 points each.

Head coach Dean Shaw was pleased with his team's performance.

"We got after real hard and keep our intensity for 32 minutes.  No matter who

we put in the game, we continued to play hard and play well," said Shaw.

Shaw was pleased with effort of his entire team, especially Perkins and Jones.

"I thought Randy Perkins did a great job of getting the ball down the floor, passing

the ball ahead, just a super job.  The word has been that Bay's number 4 (Robinson)

was the best point guard in the division. I think we have the best point guard (Perkins)

and that showed tonight. Darionne (Jones) has been very consistent for us all year."

Perkins and teammate Chazz Hawkins held Robinson to 7 points through the first

three quarters.  Robinson would finish with 19 points, 12 coming after the Tide

cleared the bench in the fourth quarter.   Robert Labat added 16 points for Bay

High (5-7, 1-2).

Picayune will play Columbia at home on Saturday.
