Picayune sweeps Pearl River Central

Lady Tide 72  Pearl River Central 29 

The Lady Tide finished their division 8-4A schedule with a 72-29

win over Pearl River Central to improve to 21-2 overall and 10-0

in division.

Dedrea Magee scored 21 first half points and Jamelle Clark added

12 points and 13 rebounds as Picayune took a commanding 47-16

lead at halftime.

Magee finished with 30 points, 12 rebounds, 6 assists, and 6 steals. 

Clark added 2 more rebounds in limited second half action.

Monique Brown tallied 12 points and Breonne Spikes added 11 points

with 3 three pointers for the Lady Tide.  Other scorers for Picayune

were Amanda Richards 3 points, Ebony Lewis 2 points, Shlondel 2 points.

Alisha Harry led Pearl River Central with 13 points and Kayla

Drummond added 9 points.

Maroon Tide 65  Pearl River Central 38

Picayune trounced the Blue Devils 65-38 in front of a packed house at

Kelly Wise Memorial Gymnasium to run their record to 19-4 overall and

10-1 in division 8-4A.  The win clinched the number one seed for Picayune

in the division 8-4A tournament scheduled for the week of February 13th

in Poplarville.

With the game tied at 5-5 with 2:40 left in the first quarter, Picayune went

on a 13-0 run over the next five minutes to lead 18-5 midway in the second

quarter.  Sophomore Chris Dees had six points and senior Chazz Hawkins

added five points during the run. The Blue Devils cut the lead to 25-14 at the

buzzer on a running three pointer from Marvis Burkett.

Picayune led 40-26 after three quarters and gradually pulled away in the fourth

quarter and substituted freely in last five minutes.

Dees led Picayune with a game high 15 points and snatched 6 rebounds.  Chris

Griffith chipped in with 10 points and 5 rebounds while Darionne Jones had

8 points and 8 rebounds.  Brandon Fortenberry and Randy "Rooster" Perkins

each had 7 points.

P.J. Nixon had 10 points and Bradley Baker added 9 points for the Blue Devils.

Picayune will close out their regular season home schedule hosting Harrison Central on Friday.
