Maroon Tide scorches Varnado Wildcats 71-38;

Lady Tide falls 59-35

The Maroon Tide wasted very little time in asserting themselves and ran away from the Varnado Wildcats 71-38 in the final night

of the Pearl River Central Louisiana / Mississippi challenge. 

Junior Chris Dees scored 9 in the first quarter as the Tide opened up a 21-7 advantage.  Ben Daly, also a junior, had 4 points and

3 rebounds in the quarter.

Picayune led 40-14 at the half and 54-23 after three quarters.

Dees led Picayune (7-1) with 19 points. Senior Wayne Mickel had 14 points, 3 assists, and 3 rebounds.  Daly finished with 10 points and

8 rebounds for the game.  Junior Brandon Fortenberry dropped in 10 points to aid the Tide cause.

The Maroon Tide will now focus on the Region 8-4A opener against St Stanislaus slated for next Friday at Picayune's Kelly Wise

Memorial Gymnasium.
