Maroon Tide thumps Long Beach 56-14

Picayune--The Maroon Tide scored on their first four possesions building a 28-7 halftime lead on their way to a 56-14 win

over Long Beach.

T'Darryl Grays scored from 1 yard out with 8:09 left in the first quarter to cap off a 6 play 73 yard drive and give the Maroon Tide

a 7-0 lead after Nick Riso's point after.

After a Long Beach punt, Gabe Hinojosa busted loose on first down for a 70 yard touchdown run.  Riso's extra point made it

14-0 with 5:29 left in the quarter.

After another Bearcat punt, Picayune marched 65 yards in 7 plays with Jamal Hall plunging in from 1 yard out.  The Riso point

after made it 21-0 with :30 left.

Cedric Brown blocked the next Bearcat punt and Picayune started at the Long Beach 30.  Reggie Bailey scored one play later

from 21 yards out with 8:19 left in the second quarter.  Matt Dragon kicked the point after for a 28-0 lead.

Jacob Kennedy (13) cocks his arm against Long Beach.  Kennedy was 8 of 10 for 177 yards.

Long Beach took the ensuing kick off and drove 67 yards in 17 plays scoring on a 6 yard pass from Anthony DeAngelo to

Roger Sims.  Tyler Worth kicked the extra point to make it 28-7 with :11 left.

In the second half, Hall scored from 55 yards out with 8:45 left in the third quarter for a 35-7 lead.

Jacob Kennedy threw two touchdown passes in the second half, one of 25 yards to Grays and another to Chris Nixon for

50 yards.

Wide receiver Jonathan Moore (26) slips out of the arms of Long Beach's Cody Darty.

Matt Archer scored the Maroon Tide's last touchdown on a 35 yard run with 2:11 left in the game.  

Matt Dragon kicked all four second half extra points for Picayune.

Next week, Picayune (8-1, 5-0)  will travel to take on D'Iberville for the Region 8-4A championship against the undefeated

Warriors.
