The Big 3 Report by Jason “Gator” Pigott

(Gator's Take Season Record: 12-6)

Southern Mississippi (4-1) vs. East Carolina (1-4)

Well, so much for change. The Crimson Tide promptly disposed of the Golden Eagles on Saturday 27-3.

In the game, the Eagles were only able to muster 171 total yards against the Bama defense and looked

bad in doing it. Added to the futility displayed by the offense was a punishing Alabama ground game.

The Crimson Tide pounded out 275 yards rushing and the game was never close in the second half.

Sophomore, Kenneth Darby looked like a young Shaun Alexander in rushing for 199 yards on 29 carries.

Watch out for the Crimson Tide in 2005.

This week, it's homecoming time in Hattiesburg as the Eagles play host to East Carolina.

The match-up should allow the USM offense to get well real quick in front of the home crowd. The

Pirates defense has been terrible this year in allowing an average of 39 points a game. Senator John

Kerry has a better defense in defending his voting record. Ok, perhaps I'm being a bit too harsh on the

Pirates, but it's tough to dispute the obvious. It is , what it is , and that is …an Eagle romp!

Gator's Take: Golden Eagles 56 Pirates 14

Mississippi State (1-5) vs. #20 Florida (4-2)

The Bulldogs can make their season with a good showing this Saturday when they host the high-flying

Florida Gators. QB Omarr Conner returns from injury for the Dogs behind an improving offensive line

that could cause some problems for the Gators.

As expected, Florida breezed past Middle Tennessee St. last week at The Swamp 52-16 but the Gators

might be looking ahead to Georgia next week. Ok, they WILL be looking ahead to “The Cocktail Party”

in Jacksonville next week and are ripe for an upset. At the risk of ruining my impressive season record

(hardly), and my already “suspect” credibility with the five people that read this column, I see big things

for the Dogs this week. Hopefully, it's not just another big number on the Florida side of the scoreboard.
