Lady Tide
prevails over Pearl River Central 6-1

The Picayune Lady Maroon Tide defeated Pearl River Central 6-1 to keep its
playoffs hopes alive. With the win, Picayune moved its overall record to 10-5
and 6-3 in division 8-4A. The race for the second seed appears to be between
Picayune and Poplarville, who also
has three division losses.
Picayune has one division game left, next Tuesday at Poplarville, while Poplarville
also has a game with Bay High hanging
in the balance.
The Tide managed three runs in the second after a scoreless first inning. With
one
out Breonne Spikes and Sarah Trexler both drew walks. Spikes scored on a RBI
single from Tara Dunn. Trexler and Dunn both scored on a hit by Courtney Dickens
that was mishandled by the short stop.
After a scoreless third inning, the Tide scored two runs in the fifth on a two
run double
by Cassie Rabion that plated Dunn
and Dickens who walked and singled respectfully.
The Tide's final run came in the fifth when Spikes tripled and scored on a fielders
choice
by Trexler.
PRC's Virginia Blanchett scored in the top of seventh to avoid the shutout.
Katie Hebert went the distance on the mound limiting the Blue Devils to one hit. She
walked four batters and recorded 11
strikeouts.
Picayune will host Stone County on Friday. JV action gets underway at 5:00pm
with the Varsity game to follow. The
Varsity game will be on WRJW 1320 AM.
