Warriors' Wagner whiffs Lady Tide 4-0
by Carey Meitzler
Picayune--D'Iberville's Kimi Wagner has built a reputation for herself in fastpitch softball by striking out opposing hitters.
Tuesday night's performance only enhanced her growing legend as she struck out 16 batters and recorded a 4-0 shutout over
the Lady Tide.
Both Wagner and Picayune's Jessie Frierson held their own with the first two innings coming up zeros for each team. However,
the Warriors broke through in the top of the third. Ariel Russell led off with a sharp single to left and Tori Seymour followed
with a bunt single. Leadoff hitter Megan Husley was safe at first to load the bases. A wild pitch allowed Russell to score and an
errant pick-off throw to third allowed Seymour to score for a 2-0 lead.

The Warriors got two more in the fourth when Jordan Adams doubled and Kayleigh Anspach walked. A sacrifice bunt by
Brandee Kovacevich moved the runners up to third and second respectively. A wild pitch brought in Adams and Anspach
scored on Kristi Hardy's groundout to make it 4-0.
The Lady Tide had four hits with Tiffany Devore collecting an infield single and a slap single to left. Mallorie Mixon and Taylor
Seals had the other singles for Picayune.
Wagner, a Western Kentucky University signee, only allowed one of the Tide runners past first when Mixon stole second base
after her second inning single. Wagner struck out 9 of the last 11 batters she faced.
Picayune's Jessie Frierson pitched another solid game for Picayune allowing just five hits and striking out five. Frierson was also
tough in the late innings retiring 9 of the last 10 batters she encountered.
Picayune will host Bay High on Thursday and Poplarville on Friday. JV action is slated for 5:30pm and Varsity action at 7:00pm
each night.
