Biloxi Tournament Results from Saturday
Picayune 3 Gautier 3
(Tie)
The Lady Tide had to settle for a tie with Gautier
due to poor interpretation of the
tournament rules by the officials.
Picayune battled back in the 7th inning to tie the ballgame when Malissa Fowler
led off with a single. Kristin Fleming managed to reach first on a mishandled bunt.
Allison Bynum then singled to score Fowler and Courtney Dickens followed with a
double to plate Fleming to tie the ballgame. The Lady Tide then held the Gators in
the bottom of the 7th to bring about the international tie break rule, but the umpires
ruled the game complete. After much discussion with the coaches the game remained
a tie.
St. Martin 12 Picayune 2
The Lady Tide committed seven (7) fielding errors
that resulted in 12 runs for the St.
Martin Yellow Jackets. The Tide was held to just 3 hits and 2 runs in the second
game of the tournament.
Long Beach 3 Picayune 2
The Lady Tide rebounded in the third game, but
came up short against the Lady
Bearkittens. Several questionable calls kept the Lady Tide from scoring in the 5th and
6th innings of the game.
The Lady Tide
managed one run in the third when Amanda Feeley, who
reached base on a fielders choice, scored on a single by Hope Guidry. Feeley
scored
again in the 5th on another Guidry single but another questionable call made on base-
runners prohibited the Lady Tide from any other runs scoring. The Tide was unable to
play the 7th inning due to time constaints.
Kasey Mitchell pitched all three games back to back to back (with no breaks between
the games). Mitchell allowed only
13 hits and 15 base on balls and recorded one strike out
against three very dominate fast pitch softball teams.
