by Carey Meitzler
Biloxi--Hillary Dickens pitched five scoreless innings to pace the Lady Tide to an 11-0 road win. Dickens allowed three hits,
struck out four, and did not walk any batters in posting the win in run-rule shortened game.
Dickens put the first run of the game on the board in the top of the first with a line drive single to left field that scored leadoff
hitter Millie Gill who was hit by a pitch, stole second, moved to third base on a ground out by Brandi Rabion before Dickens'
hit.
Picayune scored three times in the second inning. Tiffany Devore reached on a bunt single and Amanda Green reached on
an infield single to short. After a strikeout, Jessie Frierson laid down a bunt single to load the bases. After a fly out for the
second out, Brandi Rabion single to center driving in Devore and Green. Frierson scored on a double steal as Rabion broke
for second base and drew a throw allowing Frierson to race home for a 4-0 lead.
Picayune pushed across five runs in the top of the fifth. Dickens was hit by a pitch and courtesy runner Shalyn Stevens moved
to third base when Taylor Seals reached base on an error. Brooke Ladner walked to load the bases. Devore bunted and
everyone was safe when the third baseman's throw to home was too late allowing Stevens to score. After a strike out, Brooke
Meitzler singled to left field scoring Seals and Ladner to push the lead to 7-0. Devore stole third and scored when the catcher's
throw went into left field. Meitzler scored on Jessie Frierson's sacrifice bunt to push the lead to 9-0.
The Lady Tide (2-2) completed their scoring with two runs in the sixth on a pair of walks, three wild pitches, and a Lady Irish error.
Jessie Frierson pitched the bottom of the sixth for Picayune.
