MaroonTide Boys win Division

opener over PRC 2-0

Submitted by Glenn Mitchell

On a cold Friday night at the Picayune soccer complex,

the Maroon Tide defeated PRC 2-0 in their Division opener.

How cold was it?  It was so cold, Picayune's water bucket

froze.

Picayune's first goal was scored by Irving Gonzalez on a header.

The second goal came off a corner kick by Garrett Wiliams.  On

the play, senior Irving Gonzalez took a shot off the corner and

senior mid-fielder Joe Burrage knocked in the rebound for

Picayune's second goal.

Senior Zach Carr got the shutout in goal for Picayune as they

controlled the tempo of the game. PRC only had one really good

shot on goal.

The Maroon Tide got a strong performance from the defense

led by Mitchell Rock and Derrick Everett.

The Picayune Lady Tide was defeated by PRC 5-3 in overtime.

Scoring details were not available.
