Brookhaven 3 Picayune 0
Picayune opened the Laurel tournament losing to Brookhaven 3-0.
Picayune dominated play but couldn't seem to find the back of the net.
Picayune 1 - South Jones 0
The Tide took the second game 1-0. Joe Burrage got a late first half goal
and Picayune held on to win in a defensive struggle against a good South Jones team.
Picayune 3 - Newton Co 1
In the third game Picayune defeated Newton County 3-1. Keith Burgess opened
the scoring with a long shot, almost at mid-field. Britton Fortenberry scored the
other two goals on penalty kicks.
West Lauderdale 3 Picayune 1
The victory against Newton County put Picayune through to the semi-finals as the
second place team with the most points. However in the semi-finals the Tide fell to
West Lauderdale 3-1. Franco Martinez got the loan Tide goal.
The two teams that defeated Picayune, West Lauderdale and Brookhaven, played
for the tournament championship.
Coach Steve Jacobs was pleased with his teams performance, "All in all a pretty
good day of soccer, kinda cool and damp though, the field was somewhat soggy
which made for wet feet all day."
The Tide will be back in action Friday in Brooklyn against Forrest County.
