After losing to district foe and 10th ranked Oak Grove on Thursday night, the Maroon Tide hit the road again to take on # 7 ranked

Gulfport in non-district play. The Tide again proved that they can play with the best in the state. What the Tide still lacks is depth.

Lorenzo Woods started the scoring when he one-timed a Britton Fortenberry corner kick into the back of the Admirals net. Gulfport

responded by scoring a goal on a thunderous kick from long range. Next a Gulfport wing found a team mate unmarked in front of goal

for their second goal. Britton Fortenberry tied it at 2-2 when he converted a penalty kick after Scott Hillery was taken down from

behind in the penalty area.

The teams played even and the score remained tied for the first 20 minutes of the second half. Then the Tide defense and midfield

began to tire and the Admirals took advantage of the Tide's lack of substitutes and having played two nights in a row. The Admirals

scored 3 goals , the first on a corner kick neatly headed into the back of the net. The next two they just out raced the Tide defense

to score on goalie Kaleb Rabon. Scott Hillery finished the game scoring when he took a pass from Lorenzo Woods to score past a

diving Gulfport keeper.

The Lady Tide lost to the Gulfport Lady Admirals 5-0. Both teams will be back in action when they travel to take on district foe

Hattiesburg on Tuesday night.  Action begins at 5:30. This is a needed win for both teams who are both 1-1 in district play.
