The Lady Tide closed out
their season with a bang Tuesday night behind the hot hitting of sophmore Courtney
Dickens. Dickens was 4/4 with two triples, 4 RBI and a run scored to lead the
Lady Tide's 11 hit attack.
After a scoreless first inning, the Tide managed to put three runs on the board.
Hope Guidry who led off the inning with a single was forced out at second by
a fielders choice by Amanda Stevens. Malissa Fowler then singled to put Stevens
in scoring position and Allison Bynum singled to push the first run across the
plate. Courtney Dickens, who tripled in the first inning, then blasted another
triple to score Fowler and Bynum giving the Lady Tide a three run lead.
The Tide then batted through the lineup in the fourth scoring 7 runs. Stevens and Fowler who both singled to start the inning, scored on a single to right field by Bynum who advanced to second on a throw home. Tara Dunn followed and reached base on a dropped third strike that also advanced Bynum to third. Dickens then singled to score Bynum and Krystal Penton singled to score two more runs. Amanda Feeley then followed with a triple of her own to score Penton. Feeley would then score on a sac fly to centerfield from Breonne Spikes.
The Tide closed the
game out in the bottom of the fifth as Bynum and Kristin Fleming both walked
and Bynum scored on Dickens 4th hit of the night.
Kasey Mitchell returned from an arm injury that sidelined her for most of the
season to pitch the Tide's last game and earn the win. She held the Lady
Tigers to only 4 hits while striking out 4.
