Greyhounds rebound to ground Lady Tide

by Carey Meitzler

The homestanding Ocean Springs Lady Greyhounds probably felt like they let one get away from

them just five days earlier in Picayune when they blew a 3-1 lead in the late innings and lost a game

to the Lady Tide.  With that thought in mind, Ocean Springs rebounded with a 6-2 win over Picayune

on Thursday night.

Picayune scored two runs in the top of the first.  Brandi Rabion and Amanda Green delivered back

to back one out singles. Hillary Dickens blasted a double to deep left field to score Rabion.  After

a pop fly out to the second baseman, Tiffany Reed brought in Green by reaching on a batted ball that

feel safely between the pitcher and catcher.  That was all the Lady Tide could do on offense.

Unfortunately, their defense was worse in a very rare, error proned performance by the Lady Tide.

Ocean Springs scored three unearned runs in the bottom of the first and added single runs in the

2nd, 3rd, and 4th inning to gain the win.

Weather permitting with a weather system in the Gulf of Mexico, Picayune (15-5) will travel to

Meridian Community College on Saturday to play games against the directional schools from

Lauderdale County: Southeast, West, and Northeast.
