Lady Tide cruises past South Jones 7-1
by Carey Meitzler
Picayune-The Picayune Lady Tide seems to have found a formula that produces wins: Good defense, good pitching by
Sarah Dodd and timely hitting up and down the line-up. The latest dose produced another district win over South Jones
by the score of 7-1 at the Lady Tide Softball Complex.
Picayune scored five runs in the bottom of the second inning. Tiffany Reed double off the bottom of the fence in right centerfield.
Tiffany Devore doubled to left scoring Reed. Mallorie Mixon single to left bring home Devore and Mixon moved to second when
the throw to the plate got away from the South Jones catcher. Sarah Dodd singled to center scoring Mixon. After a fly out,
Millie Gill singled to center. After another out, Brandi Rabion singled to bring home Natassia Poole (courtesy runner for Dodd).
Taylor Seals, who had three hits in the game, singled to score Brooke Ladner (courtesy runner for Gill).
Picayune added two runs in the fourth. With one out, Rabion collected her third hit of the game with a single to left.
Seals followed suit with a single to left field. Hillary Dickens doubled off the center field fence driving in Rabion. Tiffany
Devore drove in Seals with a fielder's choice.
The Lady (12-2, 2-0) will play at Poplarville on Thursday. JV action is scheduled for 6:00pm and Varsity follows at 7:00pm.
