by Carey Meitzler

Poplarville--The Poplarville Hornets used good defense and timely hitting in dropping Picayune 8-1 in a division game at

Poplarville Pete Jackson Field.

The Lady Hornets scored 2 runs in the second inning, 3 in the third, two in the fifth, and 1 in the sixth.  Picayune committed costly

errors in 2nd and 3rd frames to extend the Lady Hornets at bats and Poplarville capitalized.

The Lady Tide's lone run came on a bases-loaded fielder's choice off the bat of Brooke Ladner in the top of the sixth inning.

Mallorie Mixon and Hillary Dickens led Picayune with two hits apiece.

Picayune falls to 12-3, 2-1 in division play.  Poplarville improves to 9-2 overall, 3-0 in division play.
