Poplarville stymies Lady Tide 6-1

by Carey Meitzler

Picayune--The Poplarville Lady Hornets used a pair of three run innings to post a 6-1 win over Picayune at the Lady

Tide softball complex in a non-region game. The Lady Hornets (1-0) produced their three run innings in the third and seventh.

The Lady Tide's Sarah Dodd blasted a home run, her second of the young season, over the left field fence with two out in

the bottom of the first inning to give Picayune a 1-0 lead.  Dodd would be the last Lady Tide runner to reach third base as

the Lady Hornets' Alyssa Graeter only allowed four more hits the rest of the way and induced fourteen fly ball outs from Picayune.

Tiffany Devore had two hits for Picayune (1-2) and also played solid defense at shortstop. For Poplarville, Graeter helped her

own cause with three hits and drove in three runs.

Picayune will travel to Poplarville on Friday to play Enterprise and Vancleave in the Pete Jackson Memorial Tournament.
