Submitted by Jerry Todd

Junior Jake Polderman's 4th place finish paced the Picayune Boy's team to 8th place out of the 15 teams

competing   8th grader Terrance Crawford was next for the Tide in 47th place followed by juniors Terrance

Freeman 60th,  Matt Horsley 72nd, Sam Talavera 74th, and 9th graders Kevin Wilkerson 78th and Trevon

Andrews 93rd out of the 118 runners.

"Jake has ran 3 years at State and improved his time and place each year. His 17:17 in the 5K is one second

off the school's best time at this tough course .Jake has made the All-State team for the past 2 years. The top

14 runners make this team. Last year he finished 11th. Matt's knee injury hurt his performance and time this year.

We were thinking he could make the All-State team this year since he was 16th last year. I am expecting bigger

and better things from these young men next year, especially these 4 seniors." Coach Todd said.

7th grader Lacey Polderman's 29th place led the girls to a 7th place of the 15 teams. 9th grader Caroline

Cooper's 49th place was followed by 7th grader Hannah Purvis 50th, 8th grader Haley Jarrell 64th, junior

Kaitlyn Gauthier 68th, 7th grader Gelsey Guerra 76th and 9th grader Laura Stockstill 85th out of the 103 girls

running.

"Only 1 of these girls had ran before this year and this team made more improvement than any other girls team

since we started  X-C in 2003. If these young ladies stay focused and continue to enjoy running as they did this

year; they will really, really improve next year. The good runners run year round and I believe some of these girls

understand this." Todd said.
